At Margaret's suggestion, we headed to the
Milwaukee Museum of Art over our winter break to see "
Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: The Treasures of Kenwood House, London," the highlight of which is Rembrandt's
Portrait of the Artist (ca. 1665).
Of course, MAM houses many treasures. Here are a few of the characters we met:
1. Detail from
Sam and the Perfect World (2005; David Lenz)
2. Detail from
The Store Window (1969; George Segal)
3. Detail from
Janitor (1973; Duane Hanson)

Milwaukee's jewel.
I'm glad you visited.
Wishing you piles of books and loads of love in 2013.
Donna
Were you able to see the wings of the building open and close? What did you think -- worth a visit?
Happy New Year to you and your loved ones!
Margaret
Yes, Donna, it was a jewel. Margaret, thank you for the suggestion! Wishing both of you a beautiful 2013!
P.S. No, we didn't see the wings move, although we quickly realized they could. What a beautiful place.
It sounds like you had a wonderful vacation. I remember the years when you hardly posted pics of your girls, or yourself, and it's nice to see your faces! All of the hard work you do should naturally produce happy people.
